Fall fashion this year, has me IN-SPIRE-D! Vogue recapped their fall fashion review last month and I was loving it. ALL!! From textured cozy knits, extremes like tailored fits to baggy bohemian vibes, colors of hope bright and whisps of more subdued romantic notes like rusty orange.
I will breakdown some of the reoocuring themes reviewed by some of the more esteemed in the industry – Vogue, InStyle, Marie-Claire, Harpers Bazaar & Forbes.
Vogue brought to life the following trends from Fall Fashion – double breasted blazers – tailored or boyfriend fit, biker boots, bright knits, pea coats, maxi dresses & skirts, BRIGHTS, mesh, embellished footwear (sequins, grommets, crystals) baggy denim, leather, preppy (plaids & herringbone) and the white tank.
InStyle – layering, powersuits, leather, , faux fur, preppy schoolgirl, vintage, sheer, oversized blazers, statement boots & plaid.
Marie claire – plaid blazer, barbiecore trend pink, white tank, sequins, bomber jacket, mimimalism (black, white clean lines), tailored jackets, leather & the mini mini skirt.
Harpers Bazaar – 80s, black, faux fur, bomber, trench, highlighter neons, tux – slim to oversize, and the horse girl look (slim trousers, knee-high boots, single breasted jackets, tweed).
Forbes – fashion puffer jackets, cargo pants, equestrian style, clogs, unitards, mohair knit, vests & sheer maxis.
The over-laps seem to be faux leather, preppy, over-sized blazed, sheer, plaid, the white tank & Brights. This is where I will review some of my tops picks for each of these – “on a budget” or “if I was a rich girl”.
Here’s my overview – which styles were mentionned the most and which ones do I personally feel are the most wearble for the season? Keep reading below ladies…
The white tank is a classic and a great underpinning at the very least. This is a item that will have at least two seasons of longevity as this is a trend that will crossover to spring,
One of my favorites and a great way to amp-up any outfit – the over-sized blazer. Again this trend was seen across the fashion forum and is a great addition to any wardrobe. Actually, I have this blazer in a few neutral colors and find that they are my go-to solution on the days when everything looks ugly. You know those days, right? Suddenly you find yourself scrolling insta for outfit inspo because you actually cannot believe you feel llike you don’t have anything to wear? Yup. Oversized blazer ladies. I sometimes pair it with a cargo jogger and suddenly my binge watching outfit is meet-up ready in minutes! You could take down two-trends-in-one by shopping a tweed, textured blazer…this coco channel inspired look of the season can be re-styled with the oversized look make it more bogo-chic and less conservative-preppy – your pick, as both looks are currently on-trend!.
NEXT…the bright trend. Being a victim of the neutral wardrobe, I often push myself outside my comfort zone with the odd bright. Being an extremist, I tend to go big or go home. This season, if you’re feeling brave, buy yourself a neon oversized knit sweater. I wouldn’t spend big coin on this item, as the lifespan is limited, but on the gloomy days, I find a little color goes a long way to perk up your mood.! If you feel aghast by the suggestion, I prompt you to go the slighly more muted route, by purchasing a bright accessory like a scarf or mittens…maybe even just a stripe or piping detail, or perhaps a linging tease? Love me a flo pink purse or jacket lining detail!
Being a pescatarian, with vegan-envy, I am slowly transitioning away from animal by-products. My biggest and largest obstacle, is the domain of leather. Shoes, bags, and jackets. Tough. This season, my hat finally goes off to the vegan leather makers because I FINALLY feel that the vegan leather offers better value. So realistic and half the price, the hand-feel could trick even the best fabric connoisseurs. LOVE. Invest in a vegan trench a la matrix style, or a button down oversized vegan leather shirt. I actually have a vegan leather, cargo maxi skirt on my xmas wish list…! Pair that with my over-sizeed neon knit…oh la la.
Over-sized, embellished footwear goes with saying. Whether you opt for the sneaker platform or the platform biker booty, make sure you have something chunky on your feet at some point this season. The over the knee boot is the only way I see of salvaging the skinny jean or pant this season. Lover of leggings? Bad news bear is here to advise that the only way of pulling that off this winter is by purchasing an over the knee boot. Sorry. The silhouette is very heavy-bottomed, indicitive with the larger pant bottoms – palazzo, flair and wide-leg are HUGE right now. Thus killing our longtime friend, the skinny. Silver-lining for our legging-lover fashionistas – maybe we won’t feel so sausage-like next time we have a nice dinner out?
